NATURAL LABOR SUPPORT AND PREPARING FOR A VBAC

Did you know that birth is a process that involves both you and your baby? Did you know that you have choices in childbirth?  Whether you are deciding on a hospital, birthing home or home birth, attempting a VBAC, having your first baby or repeating a cesarean-you can have an empowered, conscious and safe birth.
Delayed or slow-to-progress labor can present an anxious situation for a woman who is preparing for a birth in any setting.  Often the first childbirth can be an impatient time especially if the due date passes and induction is needed.  In subsequent births, the pressure to go into labor by or even before the due date can make the expectant mother impatient and nervous.  Feeling hopeless in the situation only increases fear and worry which can create more stress and blocks the process.

Fortunately, there are solutions to getting labor started that are safe, effective and have worked for many women.  Acupuncture or acupressure, CranioSacral therapy and homeopathy are gentle, effective and safe methods for naturally encouraging and supporting labor that are free of side effects.  For women who are not particularly fond of needles-a needle-less approach is available and can be equally effective.

After determining if you are an ideal candidate for a labor-encouraging treatment, you will be safely positioned and led thru a process of breathing exercises and relaxation techniques that will help to lower the stress hormone cortisol which may undermine the labor process.  Depending on your unique presentation, a combination of massage and acupressure points will be stimulated that are traditionally used for helping to initiate menses.  Many women experience the onset of labor after the treatment session.  If you are pursuing a VBAC (Vaginal Birth after cesarean) several sessions can be a proactive method of facilitating and preparing you and your baby for your labor process.
