Description
We all have genes that predispose us to certain illnesses. Knowing these genetic markers can help us focus our healing by turning them on or off with specific nutritional and lifestyle strategies. It can also help to explain how the individual reacts to toxins, emotional stress or may have had a particular vulnerability to sensory, behavioral or other complex health issues.
Understanding our Genetic SNP’S (also known as Snips) is key to further refining our supplement and healing plans. Read A Beginners Guide to Genetic Mutations in Plain English
Two of the Genetic SNPS that I find important to determine is an individuals MTHFR Status and COMT.
What is MTHFR – (Methylene-tetra-hydro-folate-reductase) is an enzyme found in the cells of our body. It is needed to metabolize (break down) homocysteine, an amino acid found in the proteins you eat.
Sometimes a persons MTHFR has a genetic defect. These defects are fairly common and its estimated by some studies that up to 60% of the population have one MTHFR mutation or another. This mutation may play a role in impaired detoxification.
Another genetic defect or significance is the COMT gene.
COMT Gene Symptoms–
Symptoms of MTHFR deficiency are below-
1. Environmental poisoning can increase when not enough Glutathione is present to detox the body. Glutathione is responsible for detoxifying the body of heavy metals, toxins, and BPAs, etc. that we encounter in the environment. Glutathione is our body’s most powerful antioxidant and is needed for liver detoxification. When a body gets too burdened by heavy metals and toxins, from vaccines to breast implants, household chemicals to GMO foods and pesticides a lot of unexpected health problems emerge as the liver becomes overburdened. Some symptoms of this can be: Nausea, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Liver and Kidney dysfunction, Hypertension, Tachycardia, Pulmonary fibrosis, Asthma, Auto-immune problems, Hair loss, Rashes, thyroid issues and much more.
2.Central Nervous System disorders – some of these come from not having enough SAMe. SAMe is responsible for creating Serotonin & neurotransmitters responsible for mood, motivation, and to some degree energy levels. If these neurotransmitters are low, then Depression is often the result, but even aggression and alcoholism are symptoms sometimes found in men. Pregnant women may encounter extreme Post-partum depression. In addition, things like Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Migraines, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Memory loss with Alzheimer’s and Dementia as well as other psychiatric problems can be tied to this issue (OCD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and more).
3. Cardiovascular problems often occur when Homocysteine levels in the body are too high. Heart attack, Stroke, Blood clots, Peripheral neuropathy, Anemia even Miscarriages, and Congenital birth defects can be related to this issue among other symptoms.
